Patrick Tyrance has completed more than 3,000 orthopedic surgeries over a 12 year period. An increase in chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and osteoarthritis coupled with increased administrative challenges resulted in less enjoyment in his medical practice. He increasingly felt he was treating symptoms and not the underlying cause of patients’ medical problems. His own waning health and the death of his father from cancer at a young age caused him to examine his lifestyle and make transformational changes that would lead to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle as well as provide greater value to patients. To this end, in the past year he has pursued a functional medicine certification and is completing courses in integrative nutrition.
Patrick Tyrance holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in biology, a medical degree from Harvard, a Master’s in Public Policy (Health Policy) from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Healthcare MBA from the George Washington University. He played for the Huskers as an inside linebacker from 1987 to 1990.
