I chose this recipe because I love grilling outdoors. Especially in Southern California where the weather is always good. Not only is it fairly simple, but it taste amazing. This recipe is easy enough for anyone to do. I also like to cook a whole chicken because it makes for great leftovers for salads, sandwiches, etc.

Why I Chose This Recipe -Ruud Family Heart-Healthy Salmon

As the son of Jaime Ruud a Nutritionist and registered dietician, eating healthy has always been a big part of my life.  My mother always did her best to make sure her family had healthy options every night at the dinner table.  A colorful plate and moderate portions sizes were things she always preached.  This recipe is one I personally eat every week for dinner. It is a great balance of protein, healthy fats, and low glycemic carbs.  Pair this meal with a glass of red wine and relax. You can feel great about spending time with friends and family while eating a delicious meal,  knowing you are taking care of your heart at the same time.

My Connection to My Charity -American Heart Association and Go Red For Women

I chose this recipe and my charity (The American Heart Association) to carry on my mother’s legacy and spread awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of all men and women in the United States.  This is a passion of mine and I know my mom would be so proud to know that she had a part in promoting healthy living to people in her community.
