Interview with Big Red Recipes Husker Chef Bo Ruud

Bo Ruud has been a great partner with the Big Red Recipes cookbook.  Not only did he provide us with a wonderful recipe and charity as a tribute to his mother, who died of a heart attack, but he also was a gracious and fun guest on The Big Red Kitchen Show.  We caught up with Bo to find out more about his experience with the book and the show.

Big Red Recipes: Why did you decide to get involved with Big Red Recipes?

Bo: When I first heard about the idea, I thought it was a really cool way to do something good for some great causes.

BRR: What has been your favorite part about being involved so far?

Bo: I bought a bunch of copies for friends and family and it was a lot of fun handing them out and seeing their reactions to all the players and their recipes.  It was pretty hilarious!

BRR: Describe your appearance on The Big Red Kitchen Show.  What did you enjoy most about it?

Bo: I had a blast on the Show!  You guys were a ton of fun.  I wasn’t expecting to do the whole thing in one take.  You guys are pros though!

EPISODE 6 - Bo Ruud

BRR: What response have you gotten from being in the book and on the show?

Bo: People have really enjoyed it more than I imagined.  Not only have many people remarked on how cool they thought the idea was, but they’ve also said they’ve tried and very much enjoyed some of the recipes.

BRR: What advice do you have for other former Huskers about possibly getting involved with future books?

Bo: Do it.  It’s a lot of fun and it’s for a great cause!
