Big Red Recipes Gears Up for Spring!

It’s been an exciting six months for us here at Big Red Recipes!!  The football edition, featuring 45 former Husker football players, was released in August.  We quickly sold out of the first printing and had to order another, which was amazing.  What was more amazing, though, was the way many of our players and charities got behind the project.  Some wonderful organizations have benefited from the book.  Just a couple of examples:

Zach Potter and Ronald McDonald House of Omaha: Zach personally donated over $700 to Ronald McDonald House through his own sales of the cookbook.  In addition, Zach agreed to come to the house and help cook dinner for the guests staying there.  Though he may have had a little trouble getting those sweet potatoes mashed, the night was a great success and we had a lot of fun interacting with the guests.  A special shout out to Tony Felici, who volunteered with us and made some delish meatballs, and CCS Presentation Systems, that covered the cost of the ingredients!

Ahman Green and the Ahman Green Foundation:  Ahman came to Omaha to do a book signing at Husker Hounds with us and raised over $1000 for his foundation.  We were so impressed with how Ahman interacted with all those who came by to get his signature.  Class act!

Eric Crouch and Wounded Warriors Family Support: Eric Crouch has been invaluable to our project, coming to multiple signings and even signing some extra books for fans.  Eric also did a shoot with John Horvatinovich at Salt Restaurant to help promote the book and raise awareness and funds for the Wounded Warriors Family Support organization.

In addition to the book, we were honored to film a full 12-week season of The Big Red Kitchen Show with partners Tendenza Food Styling and Photography and KPAO.  The show featured guests from the book, drink pairings by Salt Restaurant, kitchen gadgets, interviews and more!  Full episodes can be viewed at www.BigRedRecipes.com.  We will kick off the second season in February, and can’t wait to bring on both football and baseball guests and improve our fun show!  Stay tuned for when our premiere will air!

Spring is the time for baseball…and we are very excited to be working on our Big Red Recipes Baseball Edition!  With players like Alex Gordon, Brian Duensing and Tony Watson, the book is sure to be a success and we’re already getting some creative and delicious recipes.  More updates to come!
